Emirates Covid Test FAQs

Is it safe to travel abroad with Emirates?

Emirates have implemented extra measures that comply with UK Government guidelines ensuring you can travel to and from your destination safely. Further information can be found on the Emirates website.

Do I need to wear a face mask on board an Emirates flight?

Emirates passengers are required to wear a cloth or medical mask throughout Dubai International airport, during boarding, throughout the flight, and whilst leaving the aircraft. Children under 6 years old and customers who have certain medical conditions do not have to wear a mask.

Due to local government regulations, only medical face masks are accepted on flights from Dubai to Germany, France, and Austria. If for medical reasons you’re unable to wear a mask throughout your entire journey, you need to complete a Medical Information Form (MEDIF) before your flight. Please see the Emirates website for further guidance.

What implementations have Emirates put in place to reduce the risk of infection?

Before every trip, all Emirates’ aircrafts go through an enhanced cleaning and disinfection process. The cabin air is constantly cleaned through advanced HEPA air filters similar to the ones used in hospitals. Every aircraft is subject to a daily disinfection process which provides surface protection from viruses that lasts for at least 24 hours.

What should I do before arriving in England?

As of 4am Monday 4 October 2021, the rules for international travel to England now depend on your vaccination status. Please note, all travellers must complete a passenger locator form prior to boarding regardless of vaccination status.

Fully vaccinated travellers must show proof of vaccination before boarding an Emirates flight.

Partially or unvaccinated travellers must show evidence of a negative Covid-19 test. This can be in the form of a PCR or Antigen test. Further guidance can be found on the government website.

What should I do once I have arrived in England?

Once you have disembarked from your Emirates flight, you’re required to follow the UK arrivals testing rules. These rules will vary according to the country you are arriving from.

What else do I need to know before travelling with Emirates?

Entry requirements differ from country to country and may be subject to change with very little notice so we advise that you check the Emirates and government website regularly before you travel.

We recommend using our Home Delivery Travel Planner to confirm that the lead times for your chosen test are in line with the country you are travelling to. This will ensure you have allowed enough time to test and receive your results within the required timeframe before your departure.

Each passenger is responsible for checking and conforming with the entry and exit requirements at their arrival and return destinations. Please be aware that if you fail to comply with these requirements you may not be able to travel with Emirates or be allowed to enter your destination.
