SAS Airlines Covid Test FAQs

Is it safe to travel abroad with SAS Airlines?

SAS Airlines have implemented extra measures that comply with UK Government guidelines ensuring you can travel to and from your destination safely. Further information can be found on the SAS Airlines website.

Do I need to wear a face mask on board an SAS Airlines flight?

To ensure safety and well-being, it is mandatory for all travellers from the age of 6 years to wear face masks on board all SAS flights. Wearing a face mask is mandatory for the entire journey, from onboarding until passengers leave the aircraft. Passengers must bring their own face masks that cover the nose and mouth. SAS accepts single-use medical face masks. Homemade face masks or fabric masks/cloth face coverings are not accepted. Face masks that are allowed on board include single-use masks of FFP2, KN95, N95 standards or surgical masks such as IIR or similar. Protection made out of cloth, visors or covers with ventilation valves are not permitted on board.

If passengers suffer from a medical condition that restricts them from wearing a face mask covering the mouth and nose, they must present a document from a medical doctor stating the reason for not wearing a face mask. This must be written in a Scandinavian language or in English. This will need to be presented to gate staff before boarding the aircraft. Failure to do so will lead to denied boarding. Additional information can be found on the SAS Airlines website.

What implementations have SAS Airlines put in place to reduce the risk of infection?

SAS Airlines ensures that each of their aircrafts are professionally cleaned and disinfected on a daily basis which is effective for over 24 hours. Additionally, each aircraft is fitted with state of the art air filtration (HEPA) systems which operate to hospital standards.

What should I do before arriving in the UK?

As of 4am Monday 4 October 2021, the rules for international travel to England now depend on your vaccination status. Please note, all travellers must complete a passenger locator form prior to boarding regardless of vaccination status.

Fully vaccinated travellers must show proof of vaccination before boarding a SAS Airlines flight.

Partially or unvaccinated travellers must show evidence of a negative Covid-19 test. This can be in the form of a PCR or Antigen test. Further guidance can be found on the government website.

What should I do once I have arrived in the UK?

Once you have disembarked from your SAS Airlines flight, you’re required to follow the UK arrivals testing rules. These rules will vary according to the country you are arriving from.

What else do I need to know before travelling with SAS Airlines?

Entry requirements differ from country to country and may be subject to change with very little notice so we advise that you check the SAS Airlines and government website regularly before you travel.

We recommend using our Home Delivery Travel Planner to confirm that the lead times for your chosen test are in line with the country you are travelling to. This will ensure you have allowed enough time to test and receive your results within the required timeframe before your departure.

Each passenger is responsible for checking and conforming with the entry and exit requirements at their arrival and return destinations. Please be aware that if you fail to comply with these requirements you may not be able to travel with SAS Airlines or be allowed to enter your destination.
