    When can I visit MedicSpot?

    What can MedicSpot help with?
    MedicSpot can successfully deal with approximately 96% of traditional doctor consultations. In addition to providing comprehensive clinical examinations, diagnosis, treatment, and prescriptions; MedicSpot can issue sick notes and referral letters and provide general healthcare advice.     What happens if the private doctor needs to examine me?
    MedicSpot’s clinical station allows the doctor to perform various examinations on you just as your NHS GP would do. Our state-of-the-art station allows the doctor to listen to your heart and lungs, look into your ears and throat, take blood pressure and temperature readings, and measure your pulse rate and oxygen levels. The doctor will guide you through what you need to do, but a pharmacy staff member is always available to give you a helping hand if needed.
    What conditions is MedicSpot not suitable for?
    It is important to know that MedicSpot is not an emergency medical service and you should contact your local emergency services or attend Accident and Emergency if you feel that your condition is an emergency. These include things such as a suspected heart attack or severe chest pain, neurological deficit or suspected stroke or seizures, severe or heavy bleeding, severe or sudden onset of pain, severe mental health issues such as thoughts of self harm, suicide or psychosis, pregnancy related complications, major trauma on any part of the body, or unrelenting high fever. Also, MedicSpot does not currently provide the following private GP services: travel vaccinations, ear syringing, dressing wounds, x-rays, scans, dental issues, blood tests, STD testing, and STI screening.
    What happens if the private doctor cannot solve my health issue?
    MedicSpot’s money back guarantee applies if your doctor is unable solve your health issue and this could be solved by a traditional NHS GP. Our diagnostic devices allow MedicSpot to treat more health issues than any other online doctor service, but approximately 5% of health issues cannot be solved using our state-of-the-art telemedicine technology. If this happens, your doctor will tell of the refund and your card will be automatically refunded within 5 business days.
    Do you have male and female doctors?
    MedicSpot has male and female doctors available, however it is not currently possible to choose the doctor you see. If you have a preference for the gender of doctor you see or simply want to see the same GP again then please get in touch and we can help you do this.

    Prescriptions

    What medication can you prescribe?
    MedicSpot doctors can prescribe medication to patients which can be collected straight away from the pharmacy. We can prescribe most medications. However, ultimately it is up to the discretion of the doctor as to whether a medication is prescribed or not. Common medication we prescribe includes antibiotics, antidepressants, diabetic medications, blood pressure medication, and creams. We can also prescribe short courses of sleeping tablets and anti-anxiety medication, but photo ID must be provided for this.
    Is there any medication you can’t prescribe?
    MedicSpot doctors do not generally prescribe any controlled drugs substances, with the exception of Diazepam 2mg, Diazepam 5mg, Zolpidem 3.75mg, Zolpidem 7.5mg, Co-Codamol 15/500, and Codeine Phosphate 15mg. Please note photo ID needs to be provided and quantity of medication is restricted for these strong painkillers, sleeping tablets, and anti anxiety medication.
    Can I get a repeat prescription?
    MedicSpot doctors can provide you with a repeat prescription but this is at the doctor’s discretion and is subject to your health issue, medical history, and country of residence.
    Do I need to buy my prescriptions from the same pharmacy I've used MedicSpot from?
    Whilst the vast majority of our patients get their prescriptions from the same MedicSpot pharmacy where they had their consultation, you are able to take your prescription to another pharmacy if preferred. Just let the pharmacist know and you will be told how to do this.

    NHS

    Will seeing a private GP affect my relationship with my NHS GP?
    Seeing a MedicSpot private GP will not affect your relationship with your regular NHS GP. You do not need to de-register yourself from your current NHS surgery to use MedicSpot like some other providers. We encourage patients to stay registered with their NHS GP because online consultations will never fully replace a traditional doctor consultation.
    Should I tell my NHS GP that I used MedicSpot?
    At the start of each consultation, you will be asked whether you want a copy of your records to be sent to your regular NHS GP. We encourage this to promote better continuity of care, but the decision is ultimately up to you. MedicSpot is designed to be used in addition to your normal GP, not as a substitute.
    Will MedicSpot be able to access my NHS records?
    MedicSpot is currently unable to access your NHS medical records. However, the doctor will ask you about your medical history and regular medication during the consultation.
    Can you issue NHS prescriptions?
    Any medication that your MedicSpot doctor recommends will be issued as a paid-for private prescription. Medication will be ready for collection on your way out following your private GP appointment. As MedicSpot is not a NHS service - our GPs are unable to issue NHS prescriptions.

    Whether you need private GP services in London or the rest of the UK, MedicSpot has you covered. We are opening up new private GP practices every month - if you cannot find a clinic nearby, you can contact us and we will look into expanding into your town or city.     How much does it cost to see a private doctor?
    Private GP costs are £39 per consultation. Your private GP consultation will typically last 10-15 minutes, but we don’t charge extra if we take longer in dealing with your health complaint. We have kept our private GP prices deliberately affordable as we recognise that we provide many people with a safe, affordable, and convenient alternative to traditional GP care.     Can I use MedicSpot if I am not a UK resident?
    Yes, MedicSpot can be used by anyone even if they are visiting the UK temporarily as tourist. Pre-registration is not required to book a private GP appointment with MedicSpot. We see many patients who have recently moved to the UK, but who have not yet been able to register with an NHS GP.
    How do I get a sick note or referral letter?
    Your private doctor is able to write you a sick note for work, college, or school. They can also write a referral letter if you need to see a specialist consultant. Sick notes and referral letters are written up after your consultation and emailed to you.
    Can I make a booking for my child?
    MedicSpot allows parents or guardians to book private GP appointments on behalf of their children. However, we do not treat children under 5 years old. All children under 16 should have their parent or guardian present during the consultation and IDs are required to be shown by the supervising adult.

    Consultation

    What will happen when I get to the pharmacy?
    Upon arrival you will be led to the private consulting room by a member of pharmacy staff. They will explain how our private GP services work and will help you login to our system if needed. Once you complete the pre-consultation questions, a private online doctor will be appear via video link. Pharmacy staff will not be present during the consultation for privacy reasons - unless you want them there with you. Regardless, they are on hand to assist if you have difficulty using the equipment. Following your private GP consultation, any prescribed medication can be collected instantly on your way out.
    What happens if I am late for my appointment?
    If you’re running late for your appointment, please call 020 3637 8398. Our Customer Success team will coordinate with the doctor and the pharmacy to ensure you are still seen on time. However, if you’re more than 5-minutes late we cannot guarantee the waiting time or whether the appointment will need to be rescheduled.
    What happens if I can’t make my appointment?
    You can call our Customer Success team on 020 3637 8398 to reschedule your appointment.
    What should I do if I have a complaint?
    We hope you never have a cause to complain about our service, but if you wish to make a complaint, then please go to our complaints page.
    Do I need to take any medication with me?
    You do not need to take your medication with you, but it may be helpful for the doctor especially if you are unsure the names of your medications or how often you take them.
