When it’s cold, dark and busy, it’s completely normal to crave comfort foods more often. Winter naturally nudges us towards warmth, carbs and quick energy. There’s nothing wrong with that and it doesn’t mean you’re “off track.”

Handling cravings
✨ A helpful place to start is understanding what your body is asking for. Sometimes cravings come from tiredness, stress or the need for comfort. Other times, they’re simply a sign that your body needs something more filling or sustaining which is why balanced meals can make such a difference.
Here are a few ways to support yourself without guilt or all-or-nothing thinking:
- Pair carbs with protein or healthy fats to feel satisfied after eating and help keep your energy balanced.
• Add something warm and satisfying such as soups, roasted veg and stews. - Pay attention to what would truly satisfy you. Allowing yourself that choice mindfully often stops the urge to pick at everything else first.
- Check in with your energy levels – low sleep or long gaps between meals can make cravings louder.
Kindness is key here because cravings aren’t a sign of failure; they’re often useful information. When you listen with curiosity rather than judgement, it becomes much easier to meet your needs and still feel in control.
